About Liz English –
Art Of You Photography,
Vancouver WA
Hi, I’m Liz English, portrait photographer and founder of Art Of You Photography in Vancouver, Washington. My love for photography began as a teenager while taking classes at Clark College during high school. I was drawn to the way photography invites us to see from new perspectives—and gives us the chance to share that vision with others. Growing up with many younger siblings, I always had subjects to practice on. Watching how each of them was so distinct in personality from the very beginning made me fall in love with portraiture. There is so much to be seen, felt, and understood in a single image—and so much to learn about another human being.
I continued my education at Clark College, earning my Associate of Arts degree before attending the Hallmark Institute of Photography in Western Massachusetts, graduating in 2000. Over the years, I’ve worked for several studios doing portrait, wedding, product, and aerial photography—but portraiture remains my favorite. I love connecting with each client and co-creating images that reflect who they are on a deeper level.
For a time, I stepped back from professional photography to focus on family, yoga, travel, and personal projects, but my passion for this art form never left. I’m deeply grateful for the journey so far—and thrilled to be returning to this work with fresh inspiration and a renewed commitment to my craft.
When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll likely find me getting creative at the pottery studio, paddle boarding on a quiet lake, hiking through the beautiful Pacific Northwest, flowing through a yoga practice, caring for a yard full of plants, or kicking a soccer ball around with my son and husband. These moments in nature, creativity and with family ground me—and remind me why capturing meaningful, authentic portraits matters so much.
My intention is to use this creative art to make a connection to that deeper part of ourselves. I intend to see and reveal beautiful aspects of each subject’s personality and relationships. Photography has always been more than just a skill to me—it’s a way of honoring beauty, capturing milestones, and celebrating who we are. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and to help reveal the Art of You.
